Searches in Dealroom work across companies, investors, and people — using the same filter bar and save mechanism. This guide focuses on the company search at app.dealroom.co/companies, but the same logic applies throughout the platform.
Step-by-step: Building a Search
Go to the
Companies tab and click the filter bar at the top. Type a keyword — for example
"Europe" to filter by HQ Location, or an industry like
"Fintech". Dealroom will suggest matching filter options as you type.
Stack multiple filters to refine your search. Common filters include: HQ Location, Industry, Funding Round, Launch Year, and Business Model. Each filter you add further narrows the results. Tip: you can add a filter and then choose to exclude it from the results.
When selecting multiple values within a filter, switch between AND and OR logic:
• AND — returns companies matching all selected criteria (narrower results)
• OR — returns companies matching at least one criteria (broader results)
Start with broader terms, then add filters to refine.
Advanced Search Features
Dealroom's semantic search interprets the meaning behind your keywords — not just exact word matches. Try searching a concept like "circular economy" or "climate tech" and Dealroom will surface companies contextually related to that theme, even if they don't use those exact words.
For a precise term match, type your keyword into the filter bar and select "Exact keyword search" from the dropdown. This scans company descriptions and taglines for your specific word or phrase — useful when you need to find companies that explicitly mention a technology or approach.
Saving Searches & Setting Up Alerts
Once your search is set up, click the "Save to Alerts" button next to the filter bar. Give your saved search a name (e.g. "Series A Fintechs in DACH") so you can find it easily later.
Dealroom will automatically send you a notification whenever a new company is added to the database that matches your saved search criteria. Notifications appear in the Notification Center (the bell icon 🔔 in the top right). No repeat setup needed.
With a Premium account, click Export above the results table. Select the columns you want to include, set the number of rows, and download as CSV or Excel. Great for building reports or feeding data into your own tools.

Pro tip: save different searches for different use cases — e.g. one for deal sourcing, one for competitor monitoring, one for a specific geography. Each one sends its own independent alerts.
