Digital Health for LGBTQ+ patients

This Pride Month, Dealroom’s healthtech newsletter is diving into how healthtech startups are making health and care technology better for LGBTQ+ patients.

According to a Stonewall report on LGBTQ+ in Britain:

  • One in twenty LGBTQ+ people have been pressured to access services to question or change their sexual orientation when accessing healthcare services.
  • One in seven LGBTQ+ people have avoided treatment for fear of discrimination because they’re LGBTQ+.
  • Rates of depression are higher among LGBTQ+ people who’ve experienced a hate crime based on their sexual orientation and/or gender identity.

Digital health startups are playing an important role to tackle these long-standing inequalities within the community, considering the diverse needs and preferences of an equally diverse population. By having more accessible healthcare and health services that are inclusive, LGBTQ+ patients will feel empower to access the help they needed without discrimination.
