What is the Startup Funnel?
A feature designed to measure innovation ecosystems from the earliest startup creation signals to large-scale outcomes. Located under the Stats & Insights tab, it provides a comprehensive view of ecosystem health across all stages.
Three Funnel Stages
Founder Origins (Top of Funnel)
Analyses where founders originate: education institutions, companies, big tech firms, accelerators, and unicorns. Reveals talent pipelines feeding into the startup ecosystem.
Startup Creation & Growth (Main Funnel)
Tracks new startups and progression through funding stages, from Seed through Gigacorns. Enables side-by-side ecosystem comparison at each stage of development.
Outcomes (Value Creation)
Displays outcome metrics measuring value creation across the ecosystem, identifying leading hubs and emerging regions producing the most high-value companies.
Filters & Tips
Filter by location
Customise analysis by specific countries, regions, or cities to focus on particular geographic ecosystems.
Apply sector filters
Focus on Deep Tech, Generative AI, Climate, and other domains to understand sector-specific ecosystem dynamics.
High-impact filters
Options for unicorns ($1B+ valuations) and thoroughbreds ($100M+ revenue) allow analysis focused on the most impactful ecosystem outcomes.
