Investor Power Law Ranking

The Power Law Ranking is a Dealroom Premium feature that identifies top VCs based on portfolio performance. The proprietary Power Law Score ranks investors by the number of successful outcomes achieved, adjusted by the funding stage at which they invested. Core principle: the sooner an investor identifies and supports a winner, the higher their score.

The Power Law Score accounts for the following outcome types.

1. Navigate to the stats & insights tab and click Power Law Ranking.
2. Select Power Law Ranking view.
3. Start at the Overview for top EMEA and US/Global investors.
4. Choose specific startup ecosystems for regional rankings.
5. Access chart views: rankings, outcomes distribution, investment activity, assets under management.

The 8th annual Power Law Investor Ranking analysed approximately 19,739 global investors — including VCs, accelerators, CVCs, angel networks, and crossover funds — examining deal-by-deal investment patterns and ability to identify high-potential startups. The ranking is 100% transparent and 100% quantitative, with scoring weighted by investment stage: earlier entry means a higher score. Two-thirds of all points come from revenue milestones (Thoroughbreds & Colts), with valuation-based outcomes (Unicorns & $1B+ exits) making up the remaining third.
