Ebusco secures €12M lifeline from shareholders to stay afloat

What's the deal? Ebusco, the Dutch electric bus maker listed on Euronext, has secured commitments for €12 million in new equity from two strategic investors and three existing shareholders. The investors will subscribe for 240,000,000 new ordinary shares at €0.05 each, a roughly 57% discount to the company's €0.117 closing price on November 3, 2026. The raise is subject to approval by shareholders.

Who's in? Rhein Holding and Green Innovation International are committing €8 million, with the remaining €4 million from De Engh, CVI Investments, and Peter Bijvelds Holding Erp. The strategic investors may add a further €2 million after the final instalment.

Why now? Ebusco warned on October 9 that it needed short-term funding to keep operating. It had delayed October salary payments while negotiating with shareholders, making this raise less a growth round than a test of whether fresh cash can keep the business running.

What's the endgame? The money covers operating expenses and completion of the current order book into the second quarter of 2027. Combined with €5.86 million from a GotionDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → group company — ring-fenced for the Rouen bus order — it forms a broader funding package to turn backlog into deliveries.

What could go wrong? Prior measures have not held. An earlier €27.4 million working-capital package in April did not resolve Ebusco's liquidity constraints, and deliveries remained weak, with 19 buses shipped through September. As part of the deal, Rhein Holding has agreed with Ebusco on cost cuts and will nominate a candidate for the Management Board.

The signal: The steep discount and the shareholder-rescue structure underline how thin the margin has become for a once-prominent name in European electric transit. For Ebusco, survival now hinges on converting its order book into cash before the next shortfall.
