Try Dealroom → Solutions has secured a seven-figure debt investment from NPIF II — NEL Debt Finance, managed by NEL Fund ManagersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, to finance a management buyout. Founders Alex Gosney and Ben Wardleworth have taken full ownership of the workforce management specialist.

What does Nutral do? Founded in 2021, it provides workforce management, compliance, and supply-chain assurance to the construction and infrastructure sectors. It uses technology and specialist expertise to help contractors manage workforce procurement, regulatory compliance, and complex labour supply chains.

By the numbers: The company has managed more than £416 million in workforce spending and supported over 500 projects in the past 12 months. It recently surpassed six million workforce hours managed.

What's the endgame? Nutral plans to expand across the UK, Ireland, and mainland Europe, alongside further investment in its technology platform, services, and team. "NEL's support means we can go after it," Gosney said.

Why debt? The structure let the founders buy out a partner without diluting ownership. "Buying out a partner while running a fast-growing business isn't something you do lightly, and the debt structure had to work for our company," Gosney said.

The NPIF II fund, operated by the British Business Bank, provides loans from £25,000 to £2 million and equity up to £5 million for small and medium-sized businesses. Advisers at Ryecroft Glenton Corporate Finance, Hay and Kilner, and UNW supported the deal.

The signal: The financing is less a growth-equity bet than an ownership reset backed by a regional lender, arriving as construction and infrastructure projects drive demand for specialist payroll, IR35, and supply-chain compliance services.
