Ex-Cyera and Lusha founders raise $10M for AI agent infrastructure startup Modus
What's the deal? Modus, an Israeli startup building infrastructure to improve the accuracy of enterprise AI agents, has raised $10 million in a Seed round led by Insight Partners. What's the endgame? Modus wants to close what it calls the "Context Gap" — the gap between the data AI can access and how a business actually operates. Its "Context Warehouse" continuously learns from an organisation's queries, dashboards, documents, and code, then feeds AI agents only the context relevant to each task.
Why now? Enterprises are shifting from asking how to deploy AI to how to scale it. Agents lacking the right context pull excessive information and repeatedly query systems, driving up computing and token costs.
According to Modus, its platform cuts unnecessary retrieval and token use by up to tenfold. It works independently of any specific AI model or data warehouse and supports existing agents through protocols such as Model Context Protocol (MCP), enforcing governance rules before data reaches the model.
Who's behind it? Modus was founded in 2026 by chief executive officer Daniel Shimoni, formerly vice president of product at Lusha, and chief technology officer Tomer Mesika, previously head of architecture at Cyera. The company employs 12 people, all in Israel.
The signal: "AI agents need to understand how the business actually operates, not simply gain access to more systems," said Shimoni. As enterprises push agents into production, the bottleneck is moving from access to context — and infrastructure players are lining up to sit in that layer.
