Y Combinator batches
01 · Pages & maps
Batch pages and market maps
One page per batch, company by company, and maps of YC batches and themes on Dealroom data. New pages and maps are added as they publish.
02 · Batch size
Batch size and outcomes
One row per year since 2005 — toggle to individual batches. Membership from YC's directory; outcomes from Dealroom. $100M+ revenue is Dealroom's verified Thoroughbred flag.
03 · Companies
Every company, one dot each
Each active matched company on its Dealroom signal, the money it raised or its enterprise value; hover a dot for its country and figures. The companies themselves are on Dealroom — click a dot to request access. One row per year since 2005 — toggle to individual batches.
04 · Status
Where each batch ended up
One row per year since 2005 — toggle to individual batches — split by the share still active, acquired, listed or gone. Young cohorts read active because nothing has died yet. The two labels measure differently: YC's own directory marks 1,067 companies inactive, a broad label that includes dormant ones; Dealroom's closed flag is verified shutdown and covers 587.
05 · Sectors
Sector mix
YC's own sector labels or Dealroom's 18-sector taxonomy, as stacked bars or one line per sector. One row per year since 2005 — toggle to individual batches.
06 · Outcomes
The 36 largest YC outcomes
The largest YC companies by latest valuation on Dealroom's record, colored by YC sector. Acquired and listed companies keep their last recorded valuation; closed companies are excluded.
07 · Founders
Where YC's unicorn founders come from
Every founder of a YC unicorn or $100M-revenue company, by where they grew up: 298 founders of 126 companies, 43% from outside the US. Bubbles are sized by the number of founders; the United States is split by home region. Hover a bubble for the people, and a photo for the founder and the company.
Origins are Dealroom's researched country of upbringing per founder; companies are unicorns (a $1B+ valuation or exit on record) or Thoroughbreds (verified $100M+ annual revenue). Photos and profiles from Dealroom.
08 · Enterprise value
Enterprise value, revenue and employees over time
What the matched YC companies add up to at the end of each year since 2010: enterprise value (listed companies at market cap, others at their last recorded valuation), reported revenue, or headcount. Stack by sector, ownership, HQ or batch era.
09 · Value curves
Enterprise value by years since the batch
Enterprise value by years since the batch, so cohorts can be read at the same age. By default one line per era of YC's presidents (Paul Graham, Sam Altman, Geoff Ralston, Garry Tan), as the average batch at each age; toggle to years or single batches, and between the total, per batch and per company. Hover a pill or a line to compare, click to keep it.
Enterprise value at each year end: listed companies at market cap, others at their last recorded valuation. Dealroom estimates.
10 · Latest batches
Most funded from W26, P26 and S26
