Saier raises ~$15M angel round to build consumer 3D cameras

What's the deal? Saier Intelligent Control, a Chinese maker of 3D spatial cameras, has raised nearly US$13.8M in an angel round. Tiancheng Fund, backed by a listed company, led the deal, with industrial and financial investors following and Azure CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. What's the endgame? The company wants to move imaging from 2D recording to interactive 3D. It already ships handheld 3D laser scanners for engineering, surveying, and embodied intelligence, with nearly 10,000 units sold.

What's next? Saier plans a consumer AI-native 3D/4D camera, with crowdfunding and delivery slated for early 2027. Users walk around a space with the device; built-in LiDAR and cameras capture it, the cloud reconstructs a digital space using 3D Gaussian splatting, and an AI agent outputs short videos in one tap.

Why now? Founder Fan Enqiang argues the cost of 3D capture is falling fast as solid-state LiDAR shrinks, 3D Gaussian splatting matures, and on-device AI computing improves. That drops the threshold "from professional equipment costing tens of thousands of yuan to consumer electronic products at the thousand-yuan level," he said.

What could go wrong? The round is early-stage, and Saier's core claim is that it can carry proven industrial scanning into an affordable consumer device. Whether buyers find interactive 3D spaces compelling enough to use and share remains unproven.

The signal: Investors are backing spatial capture at both ends of the market. Chinese startup Zhuma Innovation raised an angel-plus round in May for a consumer spatial camera using the same 3D Gaussian splatting approach, while industrial 3D-vision firm Mech-Mind pulled in US$68.8M in August 2025. Saier is betting it can straddle both — professional traction funding a consumer play.
