Emico acquires Shopware specialist DutchDrops to widen Benelux reach

What's the deal? Emico E-commerceDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired DutchDropsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Haarlem-based Shopware specialist, for an undisclosed sum. The companies announced the deal on November 2, 2026, without disclosing financial terms. DutchDrops will keep operating independently.

What's the endgame? The acquisition strengthens Emico's proposition around Shopware, adding to its existing expertise in Adobe's Magento platform. It is not Emico's first move into Shopware: it acquired H1 WebdevelopmentDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → in December 2025.

Why now? Backed by One Two CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Emico has also brought Magento specialist Bigbridge into its group and wants to expand across the Benelux Shopware ecosystem. "By bringing different specialisations together within one group, opportunities arise to tackle technical questions from multiple angles," the company said in a statement (translated from Dutch).

DutchDrops' clients include luggage retailer Duifhuizen, Grapedistrict, and Koeka. The deal brings more than 20 years of Shopware experience and added delivery capacity to Emico.

What's next? Chief executive officer Johan van de Pol did not rule out further acquisitions in the coming years to give Emico a stronger position at a European level.

Shopware was developed in Germany and is largest in its home market, with typical users being mid-sized European firms running their own brand or product range. Its core is open source, though not the entire product.

The signal: The deal reflects a broader agency roll-up trend in European commerce. Investor-backed StrixDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → recently merged with ShopWorks and acquired Dutch agency Sition, as agencies compete for specialist talent and clients. For Emico, the significance is strategic rather than a demonstrable change in scale.
