Stripe alums raise $12.9M for Rocker, an AI assistant aimed at big business
What's the deal? Rocker, a startup founded by two former Stripe leaders, has emerged from stealth with $12.9 million in early-stage funding. Greycroft led the round, with participation from Anthropic, Menlo Ventures' Anthology FundDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Matchstick, and Stripe itself. Leaders at Stripe, Vercel, and Meta also wrote personal checks.
What's the endgame? Rocker is an app that connects to work tools such as Google Docs, Slack, and email, then identifies a user's top priorities and works to expedite them. It flags critical decisions or messages that slip through the cracks and strips out busywork. Chief executive officer Alex Vogenthaler and Peter Terrill call it "the agent for the busiest people in the world at work."
The product bet: The founders pitch a single, supervising agent rather than a toolkit for tinkerers spinning up their own. "It's your Rocker, singular, not your Rockers, plural," Terrill says, comparing the experience to streaming a song on Spotify. They argue it collects more context than rival tools and is built to crack large corporations, where executives have largely sat out the agent rush.
The backstory: At Stripe, Vogenthaler ran product for the Connect marketplace and enterprise products, overseeing 2,000 people, while Terrill led engineering for Connect. They started building Rocker roughly 18 months ago.
Why now? Rocker is opening its waitlist today, prioritising larger teams. It is already in test use with large organisations, including public companies, Vogenthaler says, declining to name them.
What could go wrong? The enterprise-assistant market is crowded. Rivals include Town, which recently confirmed a $108 million round, while Microsoft, Salesforce, and ServiceNow can build on existing workplace software and customer data. Rocker's success will hinge on whether it integrates securely into enterprise workflows — not on its founders' pedigree.
The signal: At $12.9 million, Rocker's raise sits in roughly the 80th percentile for early-stage deals, a sign investors still back well-credentialed founders chasing the enterprise agent category. As Vogenthaler puts it: "The category to be the Muse or Instinct for work is wide freaking open."
