Infisical lands $40M Series B to lock down AI agents

What's the deal? Infisical, a San Francisco security startup, has raised $40 million in a Series B round at a $600 million valuation. Elad Gil led the round, with Gradient VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and Y Combinator among the backers.

What does Infisical do? It provides infrastructure to secure sensitive credentials — API keys, passwords, authentication tokens — and manage access to critical systems. Its open-source project has more than 30,000 GitHub stars, and customers include Airbus, VolkswagenDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Hugging Face, and Wise.

What's the endgame? The company is building for a world where AI agents act as a new class of enterprise users. Its Agent Vault gives agents the access they need without handing over actual credentials, which can leak in a breach or get passed to large language model providers.

"You wouldn't give an employee unrestricted access to every system in your company, and AI agents shouldn't be any different," said co-founder and chief executive officer Vlad Matsiiako. The money will go toward product development, hiring across engineering and go-to-market, and expanding its agent security infrastructure.

Why now? The raise is a sharp step up from Infisical's $16 million Series A in June 2025, also led by Gil. The startup says it serves more than 1,300 customers and 300,000 developers, and secures 10 billion secrets daily.

The signal: Investors are pouring money into securing AI-agent identities and access. Identity startup Oak emerged with $60 million, while NewCore raised $66 million to manage agent credentials — part of a broader wave that pushed cybersecurity funding to $6.8 billion in Q3 2026. Infisical's valuation puts it among the larger bets on secrets management as core infrastructure for the agent era.
