Trissino raises $1.2M to put competitive intelligence within reach of lean teams

What's the deal? San Francisco-based Trissino has raised $1.2 million in a seed round backed by Techstars to scale SteveDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → AI, an autonomous competitive intelligence agent for B2B software companies. The company will use the capital for product development and go-to-market efforts.

What's the endgame? Steve AI tracks competitor moves and tells marketing and sales teams what to do next. It draws on public sources like competitor websites alongside a company's own sales calls, emails, and internal documents, and it includes a build-vs-buy feature that maps where a vendor's product beats an in-house build. The company says it already has paying customers in six countries.

Why now? Trissino argues that AI has made markets move faster, with rivals shipping products and campaigns in a fraction of the time they once needed. "Competitive intelligence has long been an underrated category, and as a result it hasn't seen meaningful innovation in a decade," said chief executive officer Taka Morinaga. Founded in 2024 by Morinaga, a former Amazon marketer, and chief technology officer Gagan Tomar, a former Apple engineer, the startup pitches intelligence that was once reserved for large enterprises to small and mid-sized teams.

What could go wrong? The round is modest, and the category is crowding fast. Established platforms including Klue and Crayon have introduced agent-style products that feed competitor intelligence into sales workflows, raising the bar for newcomers.

The signal: By amount, the raise sits in the 63rd percentile of comparable rounds — early-stage and far from a category-defining financing. It reads less as a breakthrough and more as evidence of continued investor interest in applied AI for sales and marketing.
