Hyperlayer raises £19.5M Series A to scale its banking tech
What's the deal? UK-based fintech Hyperlayer has raised £19.5 million ($26 million) in a Series A round led by existing shareholder Flintlock CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. The round was struck at a £195 million post-money valuation.
What's the endgame? Hyperlayer operates a consumer digital wallet, Hyperjar, and provides programmable banking technology that lets established lenders launch products without replacing core systems. It plans to use the capital to grow its product, engineering, and implementation teams, and to expand in the US, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
Who's behind it? The company was founded in 2023 by former senior Morgan Stanley executives Rob Rooney and Paul Rolles. It says its clients include some of the world's 10 largest banks, though it has not named them, and has worked with Standard Life on a consumer money app.
Why now? The raise is a notable one — larger than roughly 92% of all UK machine-learning Series A rounds on record. It follows a £30 million raise a year earlier, pricing the new round at a slight premium.
"We're fortunate to be backed by deep experts in fintech who have watched us go from a standing start to mandates with global Tier 1 banks in three years," said Rooney. Joe Shamess, co-founder and general partner at Flintlock Capital, is joining Hyperlayer's board.
The signal: The round lands against a tough UK backdrop. KPMGDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → reported fintech investment fell about two-thirds year on year to £1.8 billion in H1 2026, with deal numbers at a decade low — making substantial growth capital for banking-technology plays the exception rather than a sector-wide revival.
