What's the deal? Gamut Capital ManagementDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a New York-based private equity firm, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Extreme Reach, a founder-led company that manages omnichannel marketing campaigns and production payroll for brands, agencies, and content producers. The deal, announced September 7, 2022, does not disclose terms and is expected to close in the fourth quarter.

What each side brings: Founded in 2008, Extreme Reach operates in 140 countries and 45 languages with 1,100 employees, serving 93 of the top 100 global advertisers and enabling $150 billion in TV and video ad spend. Gamut, founded in 2015, manages more than $2 billion in assets and has executed investments in over 50 companies across North America and Europe.

What's the endgame? Gamut plans to invest in technology and talent to grow Extreme Reach's creative asset management, digital video activation, and entertainment payroll solutions. It is buying the company through affiliates of its second institutional fund, Gamut Investment Fund IIDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →.

Why now? Founding partner Stan Parker pointed to "the rise of streaming, media fragmentation, and content proliferation" as the industry challenges the deal aims to address. Chief executive Tim Conley said the acquisition positions the company for "continued growth driven by attractive tailwinds in convergent TV and content production."

Moelis & Company advised Extreme Reach, with Kirkland & Ellis as legal counsel; LionTreeDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → advised Gamut.

The signal: As advertising splinters across linear TV, connected TV, mobile, and video-on-demand, the infrastructure that moves creative and handles payments is drawing private equity interest. Gamut is betting that a single supply chain linking ad delivery with talent payroll becomes more valuable as media fragments.
