What's the endgame? Ferry's AI agents make phone calls for patients to find in-network providers, validate location and availability, and book appointments. Patients message Ferry and get scheduled without picking up the phone.
Why now? Chief executive officer Mehul Mehta founded the company in early 2024 with his brother Keyur Mehta and Andrew Buie, after helping manage his father's care exposed the burden patients face between visits. "We talked to hundreds of patients, and decided to first tackle the most common frustration we heard — finding and scheduling care," Mehta said.
The company now reaches more than one million patients through partnerships with health systems, insurers, and care navigation platforms across all 50 states. It expects that number to grow at least fivefold by year's end. Early customers already use Ferry to coordinate imaging and home health, and the company plans to expand the agent to manage more of the patient journey.
By the numbers: At $9 million, Ferry's seed sits in roughly the 96th percentile for US health seed rounds all-time, based on a sample of 10,996 comparable deals.
The signal: Investors are betting on an "action layer" for healthcare that moves beyond information. "What was still missing was the action layer: a reliable agent that gets you from insights to real-world, insurance-covered care," said Vineeta Agarwala, general partner at a16z and an early Ferry investor.
