The precision medicine startup is building Aitios, a cell-free DNA (cfDNA) platform that reads tissue-specific biology from a routine blood draw. Its first application: identifying preeclampsia risk in a pregnancy's first trimester.

Why now? The company says it has moved from a technology hypothesis to published clinical data and an ongoing validation study across more than 1,000 pregnancies. The new capital funds that large-scale validation and regulated product development.

What's the endgame? Aitios combines genomic, epigenomic, and fragmentomic data from circulating cfDNA with AI interpretation to infer a sample's tissue of origin. The preeclampsia program uses the same first-trimester blood sample already taken for non-invasive prenatal testing, adding maternal and placental health data without an extra draw. Longer term, the platform targets earlier disease detection, patient stratification, and disease monitoring.

Who's backing it? Early investors PUSHDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → VC and LANA VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → joined the round, alongside Gordon Sanghera, co-founder and former chief executive officer of Oxford Nanopore Technologies, who also joins the advisory board. The company also appointed Rebecca Ertl, an obstetrician-gynecologist and prenatal diagnostics founder, as chief medical officer to advance clinical translation of the lead program.

"Preeclampsia is a compelling first application because the unmet need for early risk prediction is significant and the clinical care pathway already exists," said chief executive officer and founder Andreas E. Posch.

The signal: The round ranks in the top 1% of all-time seed deals in Austria's health sector, a sample of 107. It reflects continued investor appetite for AI-driven diagnostics that extract more molecular information from tests patients already take.
