What's the endgame? The passport lets shoppers store their sizing, fit, and style preferences once, then reuse that data across participating brands. The system is consent-based: shoppers choose what to share, and eComID says it never passes data to retailers without permission.
Why now? Founder Oscar Rundqvist, a former H&M digital customer experience lead, argues AI agents lack context. "The ideal shopping experience should be similar to walking into a shop that already knows you," he told Tech Funding News.
By the numbers: eComID says it now reaches 20 million shoppers a month across more than 60 fashion brands. The seed follows a €2.75 million pre-seed round completed in early 2024, led by CapitalT with H&M Group Ventures participating — both returned for this round.
The round ranks among the largest seed raises for a Swedish fashion startup on record, according to funding data.
What could go wrong? The passport's value depends on scale — it becomes more useful as more brands join. Competitors include True FitDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Bloomreach, Nosto, and Shopify's AI storefront tools, though those operate within each retailer's own data rather than across brands.
The signal: eComID is one of several European fashion personalisation startups drawing investment, alongside the UK's Hey SaviDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and Amsterdam's Pixyle AIDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. The bet is that AI agents will soon shop on customers' behalf — and that shared, portable shopper data will be the layer they need to do it well.
