Skynopy

The company operates on a hybrid model, building its own network of high-throughput ground stations while also integrating with existing third-party antennas, including those of major players like Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Kinéis. This approach allows for rapid scaling and offers a capital-expenditure-free option for customers. Satellite operators pay per minute of use to access Skynopy's global network for transmitting commands and downlinking data, which is orchestrated through a proprietary software platform and virtualized modem technologies. This system is designed to reduce satellite revisit times to under 20 minutes and potentially double the volume of data downloaded per pass. The service supports S, X, and Ka frequency bands, catering to clients with high data demands such as those using hyperspectral imagery, video, or synthetic aperture radar (SAR).

Skynopy has seen rapid growth, securing a €3.1 million seed round in June 2024 and a subsequent €15 million funding round less than 18 months after its inception. The company has established over 15 ground station sites and supports more than 10 satellite operators. Skynopy is also engaged with the defense sector, partnering with the French Defense Innovation Agency on an experimental program to test its model for military space operations. The firm's long-term vision includes the AKAR project, a unified, real-time orbital connectivity network planned for full deployment by 2028.
