Founded in the UK in 2014 by Bruce Grove and Adam Billyard, Polystream set out to find a different, more scalable approach to cloud gaming. Grove, the CEO, previously served as general manager at cloud gaming pioneer OnLive, and CTO Billyard has a background in game engineering. In January 2022, Polystream was acquired by Mythical Games, a game technology studio focused on play-to-earn economies. The acquisition allows Mythical Games to integrate Polystream's streaming technology to enhance the accessibility of its blockchain-based games and metaverse experiences. Following the acquisition, Grove and Billyard joined the senior leadership team at Mythical Games.
