About Enpocket

In 2001, when mobile phones were primarily for calls and texts, a few pioneers saw a different future. Among them was Sandy Agarwal, who founded a mobile content and advertising company that would merge to become Enpocket. Headquartered in Boston, the company was built on a simple, yet powerful idea: advertising was going to be huge on mobile. Enpocket developed a platform that allowed brands to create, execute, and measure advertising campaigns on mobile devices. They offered a suite of services including SMS, MMS, and early mobile internet advertising, attracting major clients and demonstrating the potential of reaching consumers directly through their phones. The company provided the technology and services to manage these new, personal advertising campaigns from start to finish. The big playbook move came in 2007. Nokia, then the undisputed king of mobile phones, was looking to build its internet services and saw the strategic value of mobile advertising. In a move to accelerate its push into this space, Nokia acquired Enpocket for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition was a landmark event, signaling the growing importance of the mobile advertising ecosystem and providing Enpocket with the global scale of the world's largest handset manufacturer at the time.
