Musk answers Anthropic's fund: he will give one SpaceX share to every US child next year (~$10.5B)

Replying to Anthropic's Public Benefit Fund announcement, Elon Musk wrote 'I recommend giving the shares directly to the public' and then 'This is what I will be doing'. On Monday morning he followed up: 'Next year, I will give one of my SpaceX shares to every kid in America. This will be the first of many.' With about 72 million US children under 18, that is roughly $10.5B of stock at SpaceX's Friday close of $146.03, CNBC calculated; Musk holds about 4.8 billion SpaceX shares according to an August SEC filing. He gave no details on how the shares would be handed out. SpaceX, which owns xAI, listed in June in a record $85.7B IPO.
