Perplexity Aims for $14B Valuation in New Funding Round
AI search startup Perplexity is reportedly in talks to raise $500 million in a new funding round that would value the company at $14 billion, according to the Financial Times . The valuation would represent a significant increase from its previous round in December 2024, when the company was valued at $9 billion.
Founded in 2022, Perplexity offers an AI-powered search engine that provides direct, conversational answers to user queries. The company has experienced rapid user growth, now reaching approximately 30 million users, and has significantly scaled its premium subscription business, growing from $5 million in annualized revenue in January 2025 to $35 million by June.
The new capital would be used to support infrastructure and product development, including a voice-enabled search experience and an AI web browser known as Comet.
The round is being led by Accel, with participation from existing investors such as Nvidia, NEA, SoftBank Vision Fund, IVP, and Jeff Bezos.
While the round has not yet closed, the targeted valuation reflects continued investor interest in generative AI and next-generation search platforms.
