Saidot raises fresh funding to govern enterprise AI agents, eyes US push

What's the endgame? Saidot gives every AI agent an owner, a mandate, and a record that maps the models, tools, and data it depends on. Led by chief executive officer Meeri Haataja, the company aims to move agents from pilot to production. The funds will strengthen its European presence, fund US expansion, and build its "policy-as-code" product.
Why now? Around half of enterprise AI agent projects are still stuck in pilot, Saidot says, and the barrier is trust rather than technology. Nearly half of organisations have confirmed or suspected an agent took an unauthorised action, yet only one in eight can consistently trace what it did.
Who's behind it? BackingMinds, a Nordic firm founded in 2016, invested following the recent €50 million first close of its third fund, anchored by €20 million from the European Investment Fund. Saidot counts banks, pharmaceutical companies, media groups, technology firms, and governments across Europe and the US among its customers. It was named a Niche Player in Gartner's 2026 Magic Quadrant for AI Governance Platforms.
What they said: "Compliance is the floor, control sets the ceiling," Haataja said. BackingMinds investment director Niclas Wijkström added: "Rogue agents have shaken confidence in AI. The next wave of value depends on trust, not just on better models."
The signal: The round lands amid a surge in AI-governance investment, with funding for the sector reportedly nearly doubling to about $93 million in 2026. The EU AI Act, whose transparency rules began taking effect in August 2026, is driving enterprise demand for audit trails and automated compliance — and positioning startups like Saidot for a widening market.
