STARTPLATZ opens free NRW accelerator with 12 AI startups in Cologne

What's the deal? STARTPLATZDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → launched the third batch of its KI Accelerator NRW in Cologne on October 28, 2026, enrolling 12 AI startups for a four-month programme. The teams, typically two to 10 people, mostly already have paying customers. A Demo Day is set for early March 2027.

Why now? The batch targets startups that have early traction and want to scale. "So far I've always been alone in my home office. Now I want to connect with other founders," said Marvin Linxweiler (translated from German), whose tool staaffDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → writes personalised LinkedIn posts and already has five paying customers.

What's the endgame? The free, NRW-funded programme offers intensive coaching, networking, and mentoring over four months. It aims to turn early traction into repeatable sales and prepare teams for fundraising, with investor access and potential corporate-pilot connections.

The signal: The kickoff reflects a push to build specialised AI support across Germany. UnternehmerTUM, Microsoft, Infineon, and NVIDIA recently announced a separate accelerator for physical and industrial AI — a sign of growing competition to link startups with enterprise expertise and infrastructure.
