Techcom Securities raises $58.4M in bond tranche to fund margin lending

What's the deal? Techcom Securities (TCBS)Dealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Vietnam's largest brokerage by charter capital, has completed a VND 1,500 billion (approximately $58.4 million) public bond offering, the company reported. It sold all 15 million bonds under ticker TCXPO2628003 to a single domestic investor on November 4.

The terms: The 24-month bonds are non-convertible, unsecured, and carry no warrants. The coupon is fixed at 8% for the first interest period, then floats at a reference rate plus 2.7 percentage points. Interest is payable every six months.

What's the money for? TCBS will direct VND 1,000 billion to margin lending and advances against securities-sale proceeds, with the remaining VND 500 billion earmarked for proprietary trading and investment in valuable papers.

Why now? The offering is the third tranche of a planned VND 5,000 billion fundraising, following two earlier VND 1,000 billion tranches that closed in April and August. The push tracks surging demand for margin financing: TCBS's margin-loan and advances balance hit VND 54,740 billion at the end of September, up 25% from the end of 2025.

By the numbers: TCBS reported record Q3 2026 pretax profit of VND 2,152 billion. Nine-month pretax profit reached VND 5,708 billion, up 13% year on year and 76% of its full-year target. Net income from margin lending rose 55% to VND 1,548 billion, about 44% of total net operating income.

What could go wrong? Funding is getting pricier. Market bond yields have climbed from 2025 lows while maturities mount, adding to TCBS's debt load and its exposure to funding-cost and market-cycle swings.

The signal: TCBS is leaning on debt to feed a margin-lending engine now driving nearly half its revenue, a routine financing milestone that underscores how brokers are capitalising on buoyant Vietnamese capital markets — even as borrowing costs turn against them.
