Proofbacked raises $205K to put a name behind every compliance decision
What's the deal? Malmö-based ProofBackedDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has come out of stealth with an initial investment of more than US$241.8K (roughly $205,000). Skåne VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, SaminvestDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Martin Rugfelt, Martin Althen, and a group of angel investors backed the round.
What's the endgame? The startup wants to fix what it calls compliance's proof problem: when a supervisor, customer, or auditor asks who approved a supplier and why, the answer is usually buried in spreadsheets, inboxes, and memory. Its platform uses AI to handle the compliance work while a named person makes — and proves — every decision.
The product covers both customers and suppliers under frameworks including US$0.51, DORA, and ISO 27001, and is EU-sovereign by design.
Why now? Regulatory frameworks such as DORA, US$0.51, and the EU AI Act are raising demand for repeatable, auditable processes and putting more accountability on business leaders.
"Managing third-party risk is becoming increasingly complex, while regulatory demands are putting greater accountability on business leaders," said investor Martin Althen. "By leveraging AI, Proofbacked can dramatically reduce manual work and accelerate customer and supplier processes, while improving quality, control and traceability."
ProofBacked was built by Leon Eckervall, Jarkko Rautula, and Christer Hernestig, whose backgrounds span corporates such as TietoevryDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and H&M and scaleups including HedvigDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, DefentryDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, and InriverDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →.
The signal: The round is modest beside recent European compliance-tech deals — Sweden's HybridityDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → raised €2 million in February, Germany's AuxiliusDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → about €1.3 million in July, and Italy's Complaion €13.5 million in September. The contrast points to a busy but varied market, where startups target different slices of compliance work; ProofBacked's focus on documenting who decided what, and why, gives it a distinct angle, though the funding alone says little about traction.
