Fathers Beer raises $2M as chef Robert Irvine joins as partner

What's the deal? Fathers BeerDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a California-based organic lager brand, has raised $2 million and added chef and TV personality Robert Irvine as a strategic investor and partner. The round comes six months after the company launched with distributors.

Why now? Fathers says the capital follows early retail traction and will fund its next phase of expansion. In five months, it grew from self-distribution in two California counties to eight distributor partners across 51 counties in California, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

What's the endgame? The money will support consumer sampling, retail activations, local events, and targeted marketing to build demand. Fathers now reaches more than 800 retail locations, including Trader Joe's, Erewhon, Whole Foods, Costco, and Total Wine.

Fathers also pointed to early Philadelphia results: within six weeks of launch, it added more than 300 retail locations, with accounts including ACME Albertsons, Costco, ShopRite, and Gopuff.

Who's behind it? Co-founder Joe Cloyes previously co-founded Youth To The PeopleDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, acquired by L'Oréal after passing $50 million in revenue. What did Irvine say? "I'm incredibly selective about where I put my name, my time and my money," he said. "What attracted me to Fathers wasn't just the beer, which is excellent. It was the people behind it."

The signal: The round is a modest early-stage raise, but it reflects a familiar beverage-industry play — pairing financing with recognizable partners for attention and distribution. For Fathers, the funding's significance will hinge on whether early retail traction turns into repeatable growth.
