What's the endgame? Breeze wants to expand its network at home and abroad, connecting underserved markets with nonstop flights. The new jets back that growth.
Why now? The deal builds on an earlier tie-up. In October 2025, the two closed a $47.5 million secured financing backed by Breeze's spare parts inventory, an engine, and a flight simulator.
"We are pleased to further strengthen our relationship with Breeze Airways through this financing, which supports the airline's continued fleet growth and strategic development," said Colm Daly, director at AIP Capital.
The backstory: Founded by David Neeleman, Breeze launched in May 2021 to deliver affordable nonstop service to secondary markets. It now runs around 300 routes across 91 cities in the US, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, flying the fuel-efficient A220-300.
What's AIP's role? The firm provides tailored financing secured by aircraft and other collateral through its private credit strategy, making it a repeat lender to scaling airlines.
The signal: At $228 million, the round sits well above a typical deal — in the top half by size. It reflects a wider trend of airlines turning to flexible, asset-backed financing to fund fleet growth as demand rises.
