Lithuania signs contract for Finnish FORCIT Blocker naval mines

What's the deal? Lithuania's Defence Resources Agency has signed a contract with Finnish company FORCITDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → to acquire Blocker naval mine systems, the Lithuanian Ministry of Defence announced on 4 November 2026. The purchase is part of the Finnish-led Naval Mines Cooperation (NMC) initiative, which the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command and FORCIT advanced to main-contract phase for joint procurement of naval mines.

Why it matters: Blocker is a Finnish-designed bottom influence mine for shallow coastal waters, made to deny sea lanes to amphibious landings and naval traffic. The contract strengthens Baltic maritime defence at a time of heightened concern about undersea infrastructure security, and extends the NMC programme's role in synchronising allied naval mine procurement.
