Equitiestracker raises ~$246K in first tranche of placement to fund SME platforms

What's the deal? Equitiestracker Holdings, a Malaysian equity research and investment-training platform, has raised about US$239.1K (≈$246,000) by issuing 4,545,500 new shares at US$0.05 each. The private placement lifts its issued share capital to 340,200,000 shares, worth US$6.64M, with the new stock listing on Bursa MalaysiaDealroom has a profile for this one. Why now? This is the first tranche of a broader placement plan announced in June, under which the company can issue up to 20% of its existing shares. It had initially expected to raise as much as US$1.87M.

What's the endgame? Equitiestracker said the fundraising would support its fund-management business. Most planned proceeds are earmarked for investment platforms, including e-KYC and a self-service treasury-investment platform for SMEs.

What could go wrong? The company issued the shares at a 144% premium to the five-day volume-weighted average price, a comparison worth treating cautiously given the stock's low quoted price and LEAP Market setting. This tranche alone dilutes existing shareholders by about 1.34%, and further tranches could follow.

The signal: The round is modest, in line with Malaysia's LEAP Market, which has raised about US$59.8M through listing exercises over five years. Regulators have proposed changes to strengthen its role as a funding route for growth companies.
