Try Dealroom →, and Brevan Howard DigitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, which backed the first close in July 2026. The company has disclosed total funding of $23.5 million plus more than 500 BTC and 2,000 ETH, but did not break out amounts for either close or its valuation.

What's the endgame? Soter sells coverage built for banks and asset managers, spanning directors and officers, professional indemnity, crime, specie, slashing, and smart contract failure. The funding will expand underwriting capacity, strengthen technology, and push into Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the US.

Why now? Limited insurance remains a practical barrier to institutional participation in crypto. Soter says the absence of specialised coverage makes it hard for institutions to apply the risk standards they use elsewhere.

Henson Orser, founder and chief executive officer of Soter, said the new investors bring traditional financial institutions and digital asset backers together behind "insurance capacity at institutional scale." SC Ventures principal Herve Francois called insurance "a critical but often overlooked component of the digital asset ecosystem."

What could go wrong? The announcement discloses neither the new investment amounts nor how much additional insurance capacity Soter will actually provide — leaving the scale of its promised expansion unclear.

The signal: The notable thing here is the investor roster, not the headline figure. Pulling in SC Ventures and SBI — financial groups with their own digital-asset ambitions — alongside GalaxyDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and Coinbase Ventures signals that specialist crypto insurance is gaining institutional backing as the sector tries to close one of the last gaps holding big money back.
