Fact Base raises $28.4M Series D to push drawing-management software abroad
What's the deal? Fact Base, a Japanese startup behind the drawing-management system "ZUMEN," has raised US$34.6M in a Series D round. Insight Partners led the deal, with Artemis VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and MPower PartnersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → joining as new backers.
What does it do? ZUMEN is a cloud service that links technical drawings to quotes, work instructions, videos, and CAD data in one place. It uses AI to read text on drawings and surface similar ones, and has been adopted by small and mid-sized manufacturers, including small factories.
Where's the money going? Fact Base will strengthen overseas hiring and sales, and fund ZUMEN's development and new features. It also plans to build new business lines and tighten governance.
Why now? The round follows a US$33.8M Series C in November 2025, also led by Insight Partners, bringing cumulative funding to US$86.5M. In the months between, the company began serving Italy and says it now operates in 14 countries, including Japan.
By the numbers: Fact Base says revenue grew 2.3 times year on year, and ZUMEN's customer count rose 2.2 times. It cites one two-person machining shop that cut quote preparation from 15 minutes to about three.
What could go wrong? The raise is notable for the scale and speed of a follow-on investment in a young Japanese manufacturing-software company. Its significance will depend on whether Fact Base can turn an expanding footprint into durable international sales, not just more hiring.
The signal: The deal reflects investor appetite for practical, shop-floor software aimed at manufacturing's slow digital shift—and a bet that a product built for Japan's small factories can travel overseas.
