Northern Arc notches $42.3M first close for new private-credit fund
What's the deal? Northern Arc Capital has reached a first close of more than US$54.3M for its Northern Arc Diversified Debt Fund, the firm said on November 4. The sector-agnostic fund is managed by its wholly owned subsidiary, Northern Arc Investment Managers (NAIM), and targets a US$203.7M corpus with a US$67.9M greenshoe option.
The details: The Category II Alternative Investment Fund runs a five-year tenure and aims to deliver a 16% XIRR through performing private-credit investments. It carries an AA(SO) rating from CareEdge Ratings. First-close capital came from institutions, family offices, and ultra-high and high-net-worth individuals.
The endgame: This is NAIM's 15th private-credit fund, extending a business it began in FY2014-15. Since inception, NAIM has distributed over US$1.36B in principal and coupons; seven of its funds have fully matured at a weighted average XIRR above 14.5% with no principal loss.
Why now? The raise coincides with the maturity of Northern Arc's India Impact Fund, which closed with a 14.59% gross XIRR and supported 60 businesses. Chief executive officer Ashish Mehrotra said the milestones reinforce the platform's focus on "risk-adjusted returns."
The signal: The close lands amid strong private-credit fundraising in India, where Neo Alternative recently raised US$842M and Ascertis CreditDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → crossed $700 million in commitments. With insurers and pension funds increasingly participating, the investor base is broadening beyond family offices and wealthy individuals. Still, at over US$54.3M against a US$203.7M target, this is an early start rather than a finished raise.
