Everstone AMC lands $179M first close for India mid-market PE fund

What's the deal? Everstone AMC, the Indian asset management arm of Everstone Group, has raised US$230.9M in the first close of its locally registered private equity fund. The money came from family offices, high-net-worth individuals, and non-resident Indians. The firm has not disclosed the fund's target size.

Why now? Everstone hit the close on October 26, just three months after launch — a notably fast raise in a cooling market. EY-IVCA data put India PE/VC fundraising at $6.4 billion in the third quarter of 2026, down from $16.2 billion a year earlier.

What's the endgame? The fund will follow Everstone's buyout playbook, backing mid-market companies with a control-oriented growth approach. It plans to build a portfolio of seven to 10 companies across healthcare and pharmaceuticals, technology, and industrials, deploying capital over four years.

Some deals are already at an advanced stage of due diligence, the firm said. "As we build out our AMC, our focus is on establishing a differentiated platform of choice for domestic investors," said chief executive officer Vibhor Gujarati.

The domestic vehicle, registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India as a Category II alternative investment fund, runs alongside Everstone's offshore funds domiciled in Singapore. The firm is also raising its fifth flagship fund, targeting $800 million for mid-market deals across India and Southeast Asia.

The signal: Founded in 2006, Everstone manages about US$13.6B across private equity, infrastructure, credit, and venture capital. Its push into a locally registered fund signals a bet on domestic capital — family offices and wealthy individuals — as a durable base even as cross-border fundraising tightens.
