MaxxKonnect buys 24-year-old FCC data site FCCInfo.com, keeps searches free
What's the deal? MaxxKonnect Group has acquired FCCInfo.com, a free search and mapping tool for FCC broadcast records, from Virginia-based consulting firm Cavell, Mertz & AssociatesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. The deal, announced in November 2026, was for an undisclosed sum.
What each side does: FCCInfo.com has given engineers and station operators searchable access to FCC broadcast, microwave, land-mobile and tower records since 2002. MaxxKonnect, based in Pelham, Alabama, provides engineering services, equipment, software and connectivity for the broadcast industry.
Why now? "The broadcast industry in general is getting smaller, we all know that," said Josh Bohn, MaxxKonnect's president and chief executive officer. "Resources are getting strained more every day. This site simplifies so many tasks by demystifying the FCC site."
Cavell Mertz, part of Capitol Airspace GroupDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → since 2023, said it lacked time to keep improving the tool. "The MaxxKonnect team has considerable depth, fresh ideas and available staff," founder Gary Cavell said.
What changes for users? Not much, by design. MaxxKonnect plans to modernise the back-end code and may later revamp the interface, but it says the searches users have relied on for more than 20 years will stay free.
"We may add some premium features which may include a fee, but the existing searches that everyone has been using for more than 20 years will continue as they are, completely free of charge," Bohn said. The Cavell Mertz team stays on as advisers.
The signal: Continuity, not disruption, is the story here. The acquisition fits a broader pattern of consolidation among broadcast-technology providers, but as a small, strategically adjacent asset transfer rather than a market-shaping deal.
