Sonepar buys EOSYS, deepening its push into industrial automation

What's the deal? SoneparDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the world's largest B2B distributor of electrical equipment, has acquired EOSYS, a US-based industrial automation solutions provider. Financial terms were not disclosed.

What each side brings: Founded in 1991 and headquartered in Smyrna, Tennessee, EOSYS helps manufacturers automate, connect, and modernize operations across industries. It operates five locations and is one of Rockwell Automation's inaugural US-based Platinum Systems Integrator Partners.

What's the endgame? EOSYS adds engineering, systems integration, and digital-transformation expertise that complements Sonepar's existing panel design, power substation, and switchgear services. The target's capabilities aim to help Sonepar serve customers needing increasingly complex solutions.

"EOSYS will enable us to deliver a better customer experience by adding specialized capabilities that complement our current industrial services offerings," said Rob Taylor, president of Sonepar Americas.

Why now? The deal follows a record year for Sonepar, which reported 2025 sales of $37.9 billion, including $19 billion in the Americas. In October it announced plans to invest $560 million to accelerate AI deployment across its operations.

The signal: The purchase extends a clear strategy. Sonepar made 10 acquisitions in 2025, adding €245 million in sales, and bought Brazil's Support Automação Industrial in September after four Rockwell-distributor deals earlier that year. EOSYS looks like targeted capability-building in a priority growth area rather than a scale play — though undisclosed terms leave its contribution hard to assess.
