JLL buys data centre consultancy VIPA Digital to go end-to-end
What's the deal? JLLDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired VIPA Digital, a London-based independent data centre consultancy, for an undisclosed sum. The deal lets the commercial property adviser offer services across the full data centre lifecycle.
Who is VIPA? Founded in 2018 by Vijay Mistry and Paul Cranfield, VIPA has delivered 168 data centre projects across 31 countries for investors, developers, and operators. Its team joins JLL Work Dynamics, with Mistry and Cranfield reporting to Sue Asprey Price, CEO of EMEA Work Dynamics.
Why now? JLL's own research projects data centre infrastructure spending will reach $6.7 trillion through 2030, with capacity demand set to grow 3.5x from 2025 to 2030. The firm expects 2,267 new data centres to come online over the next five years.
What's the endgame? VIPA's upstream advisory work creates pull-through to JLL's capital markets, development, and facilities management platforms. The purchase is part of JLL's Accelerate 2030 strategy, which treats data centres as a core pillar.
"We're responding to increased opportunity to deliver the specialised upstream consulting expertise our clients are actively seeking," said Neil Murray, chief executive officer of Work Dynamics at JLL.
Mistry said partnering with JLL lets VIPA "bring that same rigour and independence to a broader client base, while delivering the end-to-end solutions the market is demanding."
The signal: The deal follows JLL's May 2024 purchase of SKAE Power SolutionsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a New York provider of technical and project management services, also for an undisclosed sum. It fits a wider push by property advisers to capture more of the data centre buildout — CBREDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → bought Direct Line Global in 2024 for similar reasons — as AI and cloud demand reshapes the sector.
