WebBeds buys Romania's Tale Travel to lock in Eastern Europe

What's the deal? WebBedsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a global accommodation marketplace, has signed an agreement to acquire Tale Travel SRLDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Romanian business-to-business travel wholesaler based in Constanța. Terms were not disclosed, and completion is expected in Q1 2027, subject to regulatory approval.

What each side brings: Founded in 2016 by Sabin Târșoagă and Costin Leolea, Tale Travel distributes hotel accommodation to 860 travel agencies and tour operators across 45 source markets, including Romania, Greece, Moldova, Bulgaria, and Albania. WebBeds offers inventory of more than 500,000 hotels worldwide, including over 95,000 directly contracted properties.

What changes? Tale Travel's customers gain access to WebBeds' global content, while WebBeds adds a locally led distribution network in a region it has wanted to enter. The business will keep operating from Constanța with its existing team, and its founders will take wider roles — Târșoagă will lead WebBeds' Eastern European business.

Why now? The deal follows a strong FY26 for WebBeds, with bookings up 18%, transaction value up 20%, and EBITDA up 24%. The parent group has said it has capacity for acquisitions. Tale Travel itself grew 25% over the past year.

What's the endgame? WebBeds is betting that trust-based buying habits matter more than scale in the region. "Eastern Europe is a market where agencies buy from people they know and trust, and Tale Travel has built their business on a platform with integrity at its core," said Anders Kjong, president of WebBeds Europe.

The signal: This is a targeted market-access deal rather than a headline-grabbing transaction, and its payoff depends on how well WebBeds converts Tale Travel's local network into growth. For B2B travel distribution, it underscores that regional relationships remain a currency that global inventory alone cannot buy.
