Why it stands out: The round ranks in the top 1% of all-time seed deals for enterprise software startups in Germany, based on 1,034 comparable rounds. That puts Tendos among the largest early-stage bets in its sector.

The backdrop: The raise lands as many European startups cut costs rather than scale. McMakler, a Berlin property broker, saw revenue fall from €77.6 million in 2024 to €66.2 million, with management forecasting just €38 to €42 million for 2026 — down from a peak of roughly €106 million. It has now been through repeated restructuring under investor-installed chief executive officer Steve Simmons.

A contrasting signal: Austrian recommerce unicorn refurbed is on track for annual revenue above €100 million. It posted €93.3 million in 2025, up from €72.3 million, while trimming its loss from €19.8 million to €5.3 million. That recovery followed a 20% workforce cut earlier in 2025.

The signal: European startup fortunes are splitting sharply — deep restructuring at some, post-cut recovery at others, and selective, outsized bets on early-stage companies like Tendos. For well-positioned seed startups, capital is still flowing freely even as the broader market stays cautious.
