Acuity to buy data-center monitoring firm Parameter for $675M
What's the deal? Acuity Inc.Dealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has agreed to acquire Parameter Technologies for $675 million. Parameter builds leak detection, environmental and battery monitoring systems for data centers and other critical infrastructure. On closing, it will join Distech Controls within Acuity's Intelligent Spaces segment.
Why now? Data centers are shifting to more complex liquid-cooling systems, raising the stakes on leak detection. Parameter's location-specific technology helps customers spot problems earlier and protect equipment. Acuity calls the market fast-growing.
What's the endgame? The deal bolts Parameter's sensing and monitoring onto Distech's edge controls, expanding Acuity's data-center portfolio and deepening ties with cooling equipment OEMs. "Parameter has built a high-performing business that is highly complementary to Distech's portfolio," said Peter Han, president of Acuity Intelligent Spaces.
The numbers: Parameter expects sales of about $100 million in calendar 2027, up more than 30% year-over-year, with EBITDA margins near 40%. Acuity says the deal will add to its fiscal 2027 full-year adjusted diluted earnings per share and to Intelligent Spaces revenue growth and margins.
How it's financed: Acuity plans to fund the purchase with $500 million in borrowings and the rest from cash on hand. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of fiscal 2027, subject to customary conditions including Hart-Scott-Rodino antitrust clearance.
What could go wrong? The deal still hinges on closing conditions and regulatory sign-off. Parameter's growth and margin targets are projections, and the promised earnings accretion depends on delivering them.
The signal: The purchase reflects a wider race among industrial technology firms to capture AI-driven data-center spending, where rivals like Schneider Electric have chased the same demand with software deals. For Acuity, it marks a deliberate push to scale Intelligent Spaces through acquisitions as the segment grows.
