What's the endgame? Many dealer groups running their truck business on Excede have expanded into agriculture and construction. The combined company aims to serve truck dealers, equipment dealers, and groups operating in both.

What changes for customers? Both platforms will continue to be supported and developed. RIMSS customers keep their existing software, contracts, and support relationships, and the San Antonio team stays in place. Both companies run on Microsoft technology and report retaining roughly 99% of customers.

What RIMSS says: "After more than 40 years, we weren't looking for someone to take over what we built," said RIMSS chief executive officer Tommy Jarrett. "We were looking for a partner who would invest in our people and products without changing the core values our customers count on."

The signal: The deal reflects consolidation in the niche dealer software market, where private equity backing is fuelling roll-ups. By combining complementary verticals, Procede positions itself to serve diversified dealer groups under one vendor rather than competing platforms.
