K-beauty's oral push: Kotibet lands seed round led by Grand Ventures

What's the deal? KotibetDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, an "oral beauty" brand run by TSQC, has raised a seed round led by Grand VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the firm said on October 22. Strategic investor CTKDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → Connect and Y&Archer also joined. The company did not disclose the amount or valuation.

What's the endgame? Kotibet frames oral care as a beauty category rather than hygiene or treatment. Its first product, a teeth-whitening pack, combines whitening gel and strip formats, using hydrogen peroxide within the limits allowed for quasi-drugs. Founder Lim Jong-woo, an integrated dentistry specialist with about 10 years of clinical experience, leads product development.

Why now? Grand Ventures recently completed a capital increase and is expanding beyond edtech, content, and impact into beauty and manufacturing. The firm's managing partner Han Jeong-gyu said oral care "is shifting from hygiene to beauty" as K-beauty expands past skincare and colour cosmetics.

What's next? The brand plans to roll out daily-use products — including items that correct tooth tone — then widen its scope to lips and the mouth area. Kotibet will also push into North America, using the round to fund marketing and customer acquisition.

The CTK Connect tie-up is central to that plan. CTK Connect is the North American distribution arm of CTK, a Kosdaq-listed beauty platform that runs a fulfilment hub and a local over-the-counter manufacturing plant in California to support Korean brands entering the US.

Lim previously launched oral-care brand KiwaDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, which sold roughly 10,000 whitening-pack prototypes in the second half of last year — an early test of market appetite for Kotibet's products. Kiwa is set to become a premium kids' oral-care brand.

The signal: With the amount and valuation undisclosed, this is less a loud funding signal than a bet on a new category. The real test is whether Kotibet can differentiate with whitening products while using a strategic partner to secure a North American distribution path.
