Fundraise

Nexpu raises $28M to fund its AI and robotics pivot

What's the deal? Nexpu Ltd., a Shenzhen-based enterprise AI software and robotics company, closed a $28 million private placement on October 19, 2026. It sold 40 million units — each a Class A ordinary share plus a warrant — to non-US investors at $0.70 per unit.

The details: The warrants are immediately exercisable at $0.71 per share, carry a three-year term, and include anti-dilution protections. Nexpu, incorporated in the Cayman Islands and trading on Nasdaq as DPU, structured the deal under Regulation S and Section 4(a)(2) of the Securities Act. It plans to use the proceeds for working capital and to advance its AI software and robotics operations.

Why now? The raise follows a sharp strategic shift. After selling its consulting and advisory businesses in June, Nexpu is concentrating on AI data servers and intelligent robots that target corporate clients seeking automation.

What could go wrong? The $28 million is large relative to Nexpu's scale. It reported just $5.9 million in first-half 2026 revenue and a $19.6 million net loss, driven largely by an impairment charge. Its market cap sits near $4 million, and the warrants create potential dilution if exercised.

The signal: Robotics is drawing far larger headline rounds — FigureDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s reported $1 billion Series C, Multiply Labs' $75 million Series B — but those are venture bets on focused startups. Nexpu's financing is a public-company placement funding an unproven transition, a reminder that the AI and robotics gold rush now pulls in companies at very different stages.
