Norrsken and Nvidia to open Stockholm AI lab for founders in 2027

What's the deal? Norrsken FoundationDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and Nvidia will open the Stockholm AI Lab, a hub for European AI startups, in central Stockholm in 2027. It will host a select group of founders using AI to tackle climate, health, food, and societal problems, and double as Nvidia's Stockholm office.

Where and who? The lab will sit in a 1910 building at Birger Jarlsgatan 37, about 200m from Norrsken House Stockholm, the foundation's global headquarters. It is Norrsken's second site in the city, and founders can already apply for membership.

Why now? The project follows a June 2025 pledge, when Norrsken set aside a €300M fund for European startups using AI for social and environmental good, now run under the name Prompt What Matters. "What these founders need now is what every great movement needs: a place," said Niklas Adalberth, the Klarna co-founder who set up Norrsken in 2016.

What's Nvidia's role? As founding technology partner, the chipmaker will supply AI computing power, developer tools for robotics, simulation, and life sciences, and links to Inception, its startup programme. On the ground floor, Nvidia and Root Bio — a Norrsken portfolio company that uses AI to design molecules addressing problems such as greenhouse gas emissions — will run a demo lab.

The bigger push: The deal adds to Nvidia's European expansion. This week, chief executive Jensen Huang said the company would put a further $2bn into European AI companies.

The ecosystem: Norrsken says Stockholm is already producing some of Europe's fastest-growing AI companies, naming Legora, Lovable, Sana, now part of Workday, and Einride, which listed on Nasdaq in June at a $1.35bn valuation. The foundation runs houses in Barcelona, Kigali, Brussels, and Amsterdam, and its five funds have raised more than $1bn.

The signal: The Nordics lead Europe in unicorn density per capita, and the lab physically anchors that momentum. As Nvidia channels billions into the continent's AI builders, Stockholm is positioning itself as a base for the next generation.
