About Root Bio

Root Bio (formerly Agteria Biotech) is a Stockholm-based AI-native biological discovery company founded in 2023. Root turns biological problems in food production and animal health into validated molecules and IP in months instead of years. Partners bring problems they cannot economically solve in-house; Root delivers the hypothesis, target, designed molecule and in-vivo validation, then hands over regulatory and distribution against upfront payments, milestones and royalties.

Root built its discovery engine by first running the process by hand. Its first program, the methane-reducing cattle feed additive AB-01, took two and a half years from problem to in-vivo results. Later programs went from years to months to weeks as the process was automated. The platform pairs a reasoning layer that generates hypotheses and targets from a partner's unpublished context with a design layer that creates new molecules against those targets, learning from every project including the failures.

Traditional biological discovery takes over five years, costs around €50 million and fails more than 90 percent of the time. Root makes the problems that never cleared that bar economically viable, starting in animal health and feed and extending to aquaculture, crops and human nutrition. Root was founded by Martin Blomberg (CEO), Dr. Tommi Remonen (CTO) and Maia Lidbeck (COO), and is backed by Norrsken Launcher, Industrifonden and AgriZeroNZ.
