Who's involved? Trade Nation is a London-based spread betting and contracts-for-difference (CFD) provider founded in 2014 and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. FXCM, part of the Stratos group, has offered online forex and CFD trading to retail and professional clients since 1999.

What's the rationale? The acquisition moves FXCM's UK clients — described as experienced traders — to a provider focused solely on spread betting and CFDs. "FXCM's UK customers are exactly the traders we built Trade Nation for," said chief executive officer Jon Noble.

Why now? The deal lands as the UK retail trading market evolves, with established providers increasingly expanding into wider product ranges. Trade Nation, by contrast, has built its business on a narrow model centred on its own platform, transparent pricing, and human support.

What changes for customers? Trade Nation and FXCM have jointly designed a transition plan aimed at service continuity. Clients can expect competitive pricing and platforms they already use, Noble said. Client funds are held in segregated accounts at tier-one banks.

Brendan Callan, chief executive officer of the Stratos and FXCM group, said finding "the right home for our UK customers" had been the priority throughout the process.

The signal: The transaction reflects consolidation in UK retail trading, where specialist players are absorbing the client bases of broader providers. For Trade Nation, which was named best forex and CFD broker in the UK at the 2025 TradingView Broker Awards, it deepens domestic market presence — with Noble signalling "there's more to come."
