Flai lands $27M Series A as AI dealership software books 50,000 appointments monthly

What's the deal? Flai, a startup building AI-powered customer relationship software for car dealerships, has raised a $27 million Series A led by Base10 PartnersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Toyota VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Y Combinator, and First Round Capital.

Why now? A year ago, Flai was a team of three selling software to manage dealership calls, emails, and texts. Today its AI answers customer inquiries, runs outbound campaigns, and schedules 50,000 appointments per month across sales and service — driving a 20x revenue increase, chief executive officer Ari Polakof told TechCrunch.

By the numbers: Flai works with more than 10 of the top 50 dealer groups in the US. Half of its revenue now comes from new customers, largely through referrals, Polakof said. Its team has grown to around 40 people.

What's the endgame? Flai is positioning its product as a full platform rather than a phone tool. "We've grown quite a bit from just a phone solution to more of a platform," Polakof said. The software can go live 10 days after a contract is signed, and the company tailors it to each dealer — including a Puerto Rico luxury group whose customers switch between Spanish and English mid-conversation.

What could go wrong? Flai faces competition from well-resourced entrants, including Meta's MuseDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, pitched as a one-shot tool for small businesses. Polakof argues domain focus is his moat: "It's just so hard to envision that any other platform outside of the space can come in and start going after your customers."

The signal: At $27 million, Flai's round sits in the 96th percentile of all US Series A deals in its category, a sign of investor appetite for vertical AI software that embeds deeply into one industry rather than chasing broad, generic applications.
