Swap Commerce buys Vizby to win the AI discovery race
What's the deal? Swap Commerce has acquired VizbyDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Shopify-native AI visibility platform, in the company's first acquisition. Terms were not disclosed. Vizby helps brands understand and improve how they appear across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, and Microsoft Copilot.
What's the endgame? Vizby's technology now powers Swap Discovery, a new AI visibility layer at the front of Swap Commerce's platform. The deal extends the company's reach upstream into AI-powered discovery, building on its agentic Storefront and Checkout+ launches earlier this year. The goal: a single platform spanning discovery, checkout, fulfilment, and returns.
What does the product do? Swap Discovery evaluates how a brand appears across AI platforms for high-intent prompts, benchmarks it against competitors, and generates prioritised fixes. Unlike tools that stop at reporting, it executes changes natively in Shopify and attributes AI-driven revenue down to the SKU level.
Why now? AI is becoming a new starting point for e-commerce. In a Swap Commerce study with Digiday of more than 100 brands, 62% named improved brand discovery as their top goal for agentic commerce.
The quote: "Every brand we talk to has the same first question about agentic commerce: will AI recommend me?" said Sam Atkinson, founder and chief executive officer of Swap Commerce.
One Vizby customer, VIGO Industries, raised AI sessions by 91.3% in two weeks from no measurable AI presence, with AI-driven traffic reaching roughly 3% of total revenue after schema and content changes.
The signal: As shoppers increasingly find products through AI interfaces rather than traditional search, brands face pressure to be understood and recommended by AI systems. The deal reflects a race to consolidate fragmented point solutions into end-to-end platforms that tie AI visibility directly to revenue.
