The signal: The buyout takes a century-old, publicly listed Japanese manufacturer private under one of the world's largest alternative asset managers, which held roughly $1.05 trillion in assets under management as of June 30, 2026. It reflects a widening appetite among global private equity for undervalued Japanese industrials in need of fresh capital.
